The morning brought overcast skies. We had planned to go climb at Castlewood canyon in the morning before driving south, but we knew from the day before what the clouds were going to bring.

As we drove south giant raindrops began to fall, then it began to hail. The roads in Colorado Springs began to flood. As we sat at an intersection we watched traffic crossing from the opposite direction plow through the water. When a Lincoln Towncar stopped at the intersection water was higher than its headlights!

We stayed in a hotel Friday night and packed a Jeep full of gear into four bags to be checked on the airplane. Saturday we dropped off the Jeep and boarded the plane. There were many clouds to be seen until we crossed the Mississippi River.

After changing planes in Atlanta, we soon were making our decent into Port Columbus Airport. From our seat we had an excellent view of the high rise buildings in downtown Columbus.

In the left center of this picture the OSU Horseshoe may be seen. Three hours after landing we were back home and ready to sleep in our own bed.

We drove 1789 miles, took 601 pictures and had a great time!
